Cross Media Learning Management System (video)

The Cross Media Learning Management Systems, XLMS, of the DISIT Lab, is a solution for a distance and continuous learning, based on social media technologies. The proposed solution is innovative thanks to several technological innovations: (i) collaborative and social models for distance learning, e-learning, so as to allow the creation of new knowledge via the interaction among people and with the tutor/teacher, without the formal barriers always there in the traditional teacher-led classes and related educational models; (ii) exploitation of intelligent content model for the production of enhanced ebooks with respect to the state of the art solutions; they include: interactive parts, calculators, animations, video, glossary, playable formulas, flow charts procedures; the intelligent content can be accessed (online and offline) on PC and on mobiles such as iPad, iPhone, Tabs, Android, etc., to be exploited by students, who can perform a full search into the mobile applications able to access and manage the wide range of content items; (iii) exploitation of a multichannel e-learning model to allow the students to use PC and mobiles to perform studying and reviewing activities so as to assure a pervasive and continuous learning while travelling, at home and at school in a seamless manner; (iv) usage of tools for both content aggregation and semantic annotations of audio visual content, creating personal collection and playlists but also allowing the recording and sharing of navigation experiences among audiovisual annotations; this innovation is enforced by the MyStoryPlayer solution http://www.mystoryplayer.org and it allows the creation of non linear stories experiences to teach and learn in a collaborative way.
