CALL FOR DEMO/POSTER PRESENTATIONS

There will be a joint demo/poster session of the 20th International Conference on Distributed Multimedia Systems DMS 2014 in conjunction with 2014 International Workshop on Distance Education Technologies and 2014 International Workshop on Visual Languages and Computing.

Demos/posters are invited for all areas covered by the main conference and the two workshops. Researchers are invited to submit a demo/poster for a paper already submitted to any conference session (you still must follow the instructions below to prepare and submit your work for this session. If accepted, a separate registration by at least one author is required). Demos/posters not associated with a paper are also encouraged.

A best demo/poster award will be granted by DMS 2014 based on the demo/poster's innovation, technical contribution, and presentation.

The descriptions of accepted demo/poster will be included in the proceedings of DMS 2014 (but are not considered conference papers). Wireless Internet access may not be available, therefore demos must not depend on its availability. Poster stands will be provided for poster papers. Demo/poster presenters will be responsible for bringing and setting up any computer equipment needed for their demo/poster. Please clearly state if any additional arrangements are required in a footnote to the demo/poster paper.

DMS 2014 - CALL FOR DEMO/POSTER

The main theme of the 20th International Conference on Distributed Multimedia Systems (DMS 2014) is Sentient Multimedia Systems.

The demo/poster track provides researchers and practitioners with a platform to demonstrate their new and innovative systems while interacting with their audience in an informal setting. Demo/poster submissions should be concerned with mature systems or prototypes in which computing technologies are used to solve practically important problems or to make entertainment. Demo/poster descriptions should make clear which aspects of the system will be demonstrated. It should include a discussion of the implementation and case studies of how the system is applied.

Software and hardware demo/poster on the following topics will be considered, but are not limited to:

  • Sentient Multimedia Systems
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Semantic Computing and Processing
  • Multimedia Databases and Information Systems
  • Multimedia Indexing and Retrieval Systems
  • Collaborative and Social Multimedia Systems and Solutions
  • Humanities and Cultural Heritage Applications, Management and Fruition
  • Mobile intelligent applications
  • Cultural Heritage Preservation, Management and Fruition
  • Health Care Management and Disability Assistance
  • Internet and Multimedia
  • Internet of Things
  • Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality
  • Multimedia Arts and Technologies
  • Smartphone and tablet Apps for entertainment
  • Music and New Technologies

DET 2014 - CALL FOR DEMO/POSTER

The demo/poster track allows researchers and practitioners in the e-learning field to demonstrate creative solutions on distance education. Demo/poster submissions must be based on an implemented and tested system that pursues one or more innovative ideas in the e-learning area. Demo/poster can be from the "traditional" research community but also can be from companies that are using software for training and motivating their human resources. Software and hardware demo on the following topics will be considered, but are not limited to:
  • New e-learning network infrastructures
  • Learning Management Systems
  • Ubiquitous learning
  • Situated Learning
  • Smartphone and tablet Apps for education
  • Recommendation system for e-learning
  • Personalised learning
  • Intelligent tutoring systems
  • New technologies for supporting new learning approaches
  • Computer Supported Collaboration tools
  • Social networking technologies for e-learning
  • Virtual environments and serious games
  • Smart simulation

Software and hardware demo on the following topics will be considered, but are not limited to:
  • 3D Printing Innovations
  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Aesthetic Computing
  • Automated Generation and Layout of Visualisations
  • Computer-Assisted Visual Art and Design
  • Fusion of Vision with Audio and Other Modalities
  • Gestural Computing
